Hello Family!
I actually havent been reading in spanish a ton. Ive been jumping between English Book of Mormon and New Testament. I think the bible is super fun to read because it has a lot of obscure anolgies and references to odd things which is new and interesting. While reading, that I make cross references to places of similiar doctrine in the Book of Mormon. I wish I had more time to take institute, you should get into those!
So funny thing about the mail. I think the delivery date said friday on the email you ssent me about the shoulder bag. I get mail Friday morning, so its sorted on thursday. Which means The mail needs to get there at the absolute latest on thursday morning. So I didnt get the bag this week. So next monday Ill let you know.
I havent replied to Addison yet (lol sorry Addison) But I did see her email. Those pictures were pretty real. I cant believe she only got as hurt as she did. I lost my driving rights so im out of the drivers seat for 2 years. Im just kind of banking on Im just a really awesome missionary and later in my mission they say "You know what You were only $100 over the cap, Elder Wilson, were going to need you to drive." People are just crazy drivers around here. Its kind of like when you're on the highway and some crazy driver speeds past and is weaving in and out of cars. Its like that except everyone does it, and its always atleast 5 lanes of it. Fun. So transfers were this week as you may have heard. My comp Elder Martin got the boot so Ill be here in Compton for at least another 2 transfers probably around june/july ill leave.
I dont have J-Staff's (Josh Staffords) email! could you give that for me porfa? :) Ive heard of a lot of missionaries getting hit on bikes by cars recently. Yikes. Glad to hear hes still doing this thing though.
We try to visit members a lot. I dont know if its a latino thing but they dont want to accept commitments because of the fact if they break it then they are liars and their character is ruined ( I guess) So we ask someone to come to church and they will say ill try or we will see. Its a tad difficult asking members to invite someone to church or invite them to listen to the missionaries. But we try haha. So we pretty much have like no investigators. No one keeps commitments so they keep losing contact with us and claim to be to busy. The woman who lost her husband told us last week that she believes the Book of Mormon is true and then stopped talking to us for a solid week. I dont get it.
I dont have anything super exciting to share from this week. Im getting a new companion so im excited about that. I love my old comp, but hes just not as experienced as the one im getting. So im super excited. My spanish is going to be amazing for the Mothers Day skype call, I promise.
Oh I remembed something funny. So every Friday we have District meetings and in those meetings we have certain trainings. We were discussing how we can have better Companionship Studies. So we started with listing things that inturrupt comp study like needing to use the bathroom, or you're tired, or get distracted or hungry, lo que sea. Then after we were going over ways to correct these problems. Then one of the silly English elders raised his hand and said in his funny brooklyn accent "One thing that I do is if my companion or I need to use the bathroom during comp study, one companion follows the other to the door of the bathroom so they can continue talking. There was a solid 3 seconds of silence and then everyone died laughing. Him and his companion got so red in the face, I almost died.
Not much else has happened this week. Ill let you know how the new bag and companion are next week! Les quiero
