Letter from Elder Wilson 4-7-14

Hello everyone!

I cant believe General Conference is over already! Honestly this was the best conference of my life. Being a missionary makes it so much more meaningful. I think before I just kind of had a "conference mentality" so when conference was over I deleted everything I heard before. We had an investigator come to watch conference with us as well! Ill tell you about him a little bit later. I just with we had iPads already so we could watch the talks again but I guess ill just wait until the liahona comes out. Such first world problems we have. I don't have my conference notes with me but I think my favorite talk was President Eyrings first talk. I really liked all of the first 2 sessions honestly but Eyrings talk is standing out at the moment.

Last Friday we had zone training meeting so we had the zone leaders give trainings on what the mission president talked to them about in the meeting they had the previous Monday. So this week was about Language and Music. Which let me tell you was really hard. My companion has really helped me make changes so hes eased me into this. President Weidman is a business exec. so he really understand how the way we come off to people can really affect them. His language is super refined and wants that for everyone of us, especially since we are representing Jesus Christ. Things that don't seem bad to me like crap, suck, flip, and so on he doesn't want us using. He started the training by having missionaries make a list of words we should avoid and then followed up on the purpose of language and why we avoid other language. Its been so hard let me tell you but conference has helped me really see that this time on my mission isn't to come out here and be stubborn and say well freak isn't a bad word. Its time I have to live in a 100% spiritual environment and make CHANGES in this short time of my life to prepare to be better for the rest of my life. Music was the same story. I so badly want to listen to the kind of music as before the mission but im not out here to be the person I was before. Ive decided to make these changes and become better. Conference was easily my favorite of my life.

So one of our investigators ( the one who came to conference) is scheduled to be baptized on sunday. Which would be the first of my mission. Its been really cool because My companion and I found him by chance. Hes the husband of a woman who was baptized like 7 months ago. He wanted nothing to do with the church and missionaries so the fact that he was willing to change and come (and has come) to church was HUGE. But yesterday we found out that he only started talking to us because his wife wants to leave him. He thought that if he started coming to church she would stay. Well he found out she isn't staying and kind of cut himself off from church. We think hes really seen the change that this can make in his life and so is torn because his motivation wasn't to make changes. Were praying for him to see past this and be able to come to church despite separating from his wife.

Thanks everyone for all the letters and love, until next week :)
